Wine & Dine Interview with Kindsay Reeder

My sister, Kindsay, and I ran the 2021 Wine and Dine Half Marathon at Walt Disney World in November. This race has been on my bucket list for years. Michael and I ran our first runDisney races 2014 running the Walt Disney World Marathon and the Disneyland Half Marathon. In the years since we have run other races with the most recent being the Princess Half Marathon with Kindsay.

This time it was just the two of us and we had an absolute blast. She will also be the Anna to my Elsa! We were scheduled to run the race last year before COVID stopped the whole world. I interviewed Kindsay as a way to share with you more about our experience with runDisney at the Wine and Dine Half Marathon.

What makes the Wine and Dine different from other races you have completed with runDisney?

The theming of the race is what stood out to me this year. Disney did a great job with "entertaining" us with the villains theme throughout the entire race. Even when it was so dark and we were running back roads they worked hard to create a very entertaining route for us. Bubbling cauldrons, music, characters, music, videos....it was like we weren't even doing a 1/2 marathon. It was great fun. I'm not even a big "villains" theme girl (I'm more a princess at heart) and I thought it was fantastic.

What was your favorite moment of the Wine and Dine Half Marathon?

My favorite moment at the Wine and Dine was running through Animal Kingdom at dawn with my sister. It was truly magical. The lighting, the park itself, the cast members cheering us on. It was so awesome. I also really loved the music that was blasting around World Showcase in Epcot when we were about to finish the race. It was powerful, empowering and so fun!

Why do you choose to runDisney?

I choose RunDisney because, it is going to sound cliche but, it is so magical. Ironically, I don't feel like I'm in a half marathon because they work so hard to make it so entertaining and wonderful. This has become somewhat of a tradition for our family and it simply is magic. It's a way to combine our favorite things into one magical bundle. It is the way to go! RunDisney or bust!
